Should Microsoft Abandon MS Points?

Recently, a rumor surfaced that Microsoft was considering abandoning the Microsoft Points system and going to a real-currency model, like what Steam or PSN use. While this might be a good move for gamers, could it potentially hurt Microsoft (and its developers)?

ESA Supports PIPA/SOPA at Gamers’ Expense

It shouldn't be that much of a surprise to gamers that the ESA backs SOPA and has spent $190,000 lobbying PIPA. Seven months ago they stood with gamers against the California Video Game Law while at the same time paying lobbyist to gain support for PIPA. If you think the ESA is on the side of the gaming industry, think again.
