Is EA Testing the Idea of Paying for Specific Game Modes?

Recently, EA announced that the story mode of Fight Night Champion will be available for download on the PSN for $5. The mode, titled Champion Mode, is the first story-based mode featured in a Fight Night title, and lets you play out the career of Andre  Bishop. From there, you can purchase the rest of the modes individually, which range from $5-$10. Could this mean EA is testing the waters for future EA Sports titles to follow suit?

Arkham City’s First 3 Hours: A Disappointing Start

After playing through the first three or so hours of Batman: Arkham City, which amounts to five chapters (plus two from the Catwoman DLC), I have to say that I’m impressed, but worried about the direction the game is going.

The holidays are coming up and Vivid Gamer cares about your wallet.  Seven months ago Homefront released and while it had a lot of problems, developers also had seven months to fix them.  Should you drop the cash this holiday on Homefront, or spend it on something else?

Netflix Video Game Rental: The End of Gamefly?

Netflix is used to running people out of business. Their business model was so revolutionary and effective that they played a big part in the demise of both Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Yesterday, they announced that they would be splitting up their mail service and streaming service, renaming the mail service to Qwikster. This new service will also start renting video games (for PS3, 360, and Wii), directly competing with Gamefly. Could Netflix yet again push another industry leader out of the market?
