World of Warcraft: Gaze of the Black Prince Buff Starts Today
For those who have endured long hours in frustrating Looking for Raid (LFR) groups that fall apart or are simply completing the weekly Siege of Orgrimmar raid with guildies to be that much closer in wielding a legendary cloak, Blizzard has offered a two week buff that may yet speed up the often complained about grind. The cloaks – which can now be upgraded to a maximum item level of 616 due to patch 5.4.8 that allowed items to be upgraded an additional 2 levels - are often viewed as the staple must-have for any dedicated raider in World of Warcraft. Needless to say, the journey in attaining these artifacts are in a word, arduous. Starting today, June 17th at 9.00 a.m. PDT through Monday, June 30th at 9.00 a.m. PDT, players will receive the Gaze of the Black Prince buff that increases the reputation gained with the Black Prince by 100%. The buff also increases the chance of obtaining required quest items that are not guaranteed drops from every boss in both the Throne of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar. Not surprisingly, this feature is an expected development after players were recently imbued with the Heart of Valorous Buff last week. This opportunity also gives PvPers an easier chance to attain the cloak for an alternate raiding set that would come in handy if PvE ventures are pursued. It looks like Blizzard is aiming to keep its players entertained during this grace period before the Warlords of Draenor expansion that is slated for a “Fall 2014″ release.
If you are unfamiliar with the legendary cloak quest line or have yet to start it, this buff may at first glance appear irrelevant to your situation. However, since the early stages of the quest line is heavily dependent on a reputation grind (the first chapter, for instance, requires you to obtain an honored reputation before you can move on), taking advantage of this buff will save you at least two hours from killing normal Mogu and Mantid mobs that usually only offer 10-12 reputation per kill. Completing the Golden Lotus and Klaxxi dailies will also yield 100% more rep and shoot your overall Black Prince reputation up a good amount. Another concern is the inability to double-dip between different raid difficulties once players reach the stage of collecting 10 Sigils of Power and Wisdom respectively. Based on experience and incredibly bad luck, it took me three weeks to retrieve all 20 for a quest that still restricted me within Wrathion’s first chapter. If the buff automatically grants players a better stroke of luck in collecting these artifacts, you could be well on your way onto the next big collecting frenzy in Chapter III by the time you’ve moved on from the Throne of Thunder to Siege of Orgrimmar this week. Ultimately, if the odds are in your favor, this two week buff is most ideal for players to breeze through the collection portions of the questline since they take the longest to complete. Without the buff, these items may take up to two months of weekly instance resets coupled with desperate prayers to complete.
