Former Nintendo President, Hiroshi Yamauchi, Passes Away

Any time we learn of a life taken away from us so quickly (regardless of age or if we personally know them), it’s such sad and heart-breaking news. Today, the man behind transforming Nintendo from its hanafuda card-making beginnings into the huge video game company has passed away.¬†Hiroshi Yamauchi’s death announced the same day that he had passed.

Yamauchi, aged 85, served as Nintendo’s President from 1949 to 2002 when Satoru Iwata took his place. As well as his involvement with Nintendo, Yamauchi owned the Seattle Mariners baseball team and was considered one of Japan’s richest men.
