End in Sight for Assassin’s Creed?

End in Sight for Assassin’s Creed?

It seems that there is an ending to the story of Assassin’s Creed after all.  In an interview with Eurogamer, Ashraf Ismail, game director of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, said:

We have multiple development teams, then we have the brand team that sits on top and is filled with writers and designers concerned with the series’ overall arc. So there is an overall arc, and each iteration has its place inside this.”

He goes on to say:

“We have an idea of where the end is, what the end is. But of course Yves [Guillemot, Ubisoft chairman and CEO] announced we are a yearly title, we ship one game a year. So depending on the setting, depending on what fans want, we’ve given ourselves room to fit more in this arc. But there is an end.”

So the concept for the end to Assassin’s Creed is there.  We also know that there is Assassin’s Creed title set to release in 2014 with Ubisoft Toronto, the team behind Splinter Cell: Blacklist, tasked with its development.  However, whether this title is the final installment or, more likely, just the next installment remains to be seen.
