Remember Obscure, Mighty Rocket Studio’s recently revealed title? Apparently, fan reaction over the game sharing the same name as an established horror series while not at all being a sequel has lead the developer to change the title to Final Exam. An excellent example of the power of branding, the new name comes with a brand new website and a batch of screenshots.

Mighty Rocket Studio’s director, Francois Potentier, describes the decision to alter the title as one of being honest with the game’s direction:

When we read the first comments following the announcement of our new game, we understood that our fans expected a different content from a game entitled Obscure…We understand fans all the better because we are first and foremost passionate gamers! Thus, even if the game makes a great number of references to Obscure and Obscure 2, we thought it important to rename it. At the end of the day, it’s a question of honesty and respect to the gamers. Final Exam does befit the game accurately. Final Exam is the first corner stone of our new studio, and we hope this title will enable us to grow, as we have not given up on the idea of developing a real sequel to Obscure.

Due next September, Final Exam promises coop, a vast arsenal, and vivid cast of characters all on top of fun 2.5D side-scrolling action. Fans can look forward to a release on the PC, PSN and Xbox Live Arcade.
