Layoffs Hit Capcom, Including Christian Svensson

It’s always sad to see layoffs at any kind of gaming company. Today, Capcom decided to layoff some of its staff, including its current vice president, Christian Svensson.

Christian Svensson has volunteered to go as part of the reorganization plan put in force by the company. Capcom had not yet released on official statement on the matter as the news broke via¬†Christian Svensson’s Facebook page. In the post that he posted, he had this to say:

“Sadly, I’m not the only one affected by the reorganization today. Over the next few days, I’ll be gathering resumes from as many as I can and will be sending them out to my contacts around the industry to see if there’s a ‘love connection’ to be made.

“I’ve had the opportunity to interface with the best fans any company could ever hope to have,¬†I know that I wasn’t always able to deliver what they wanted, but I promise that I did my best to champion their needs and wants. So thank you to the fans who made my job rewarding, challenging, and, if nothing else, interesting.”

Capcom have had a mixed time recently, with some franchises like Street Fighter doing great, while others, like Mega Man have completely disappeared. Once Capcom releases a full statement, you be sure that we will let you in on the details on the reorganization. We at Vivid Gamer wish everybody affected by today’s news the best and hope they all find new jobs in the industry soon.
