Dark Souls 2 Will Have More Freedom of Exploration

Dark Souls 2 Will Have More Freedom of Exploration

If you thought you’ve already explored enough secret passageways and dark tombs in Dark Souls, think again. In an interview with Digital Spy, game director Yui Tanimura stated that “freedom of exploration is something we want to prioritize for Dark Souls 2, even more so than Dark Souls 1.” The realm will be in the palm of your hands as you receive more freedom to travel from one place to another. Moreover, Dark Souls also required tasks to be done in a certain order but this doesn’t seem to be the case for its successor. Tanimura explains that developers are hoping they will be able to provide “more freedom so things don’t have to necessarily be done in a certain order” such as ringing the bells of awakening. More experienced players, for instance, might be able to start halfway through the game depending on willingness and well, courage.

As far as the plot goes, Tanimura states that the end stages of the game will be a unique experience for each player, an interesting aspect that will be both enjoyable and captivating. It looks like Dark Souls 2 has quite a lot of surprises in store for us, including an endless pattern of death after death.

Dark Souls 2 will launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March 2014.
