In-game microtransactions may be heading to World of Warcraft in the upcoming 5.4 patch. Blizzard has confirmed that they are experimenting with the possibility of allowing players to make purchases whilst playing, explains community manager Zarhym via the game’s forums.

“We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game. As part of this process, elements related to this will be appearing on the PTR. We’ll provide additional updates on our plans as development progresses”

The post was made after players discovered an item called the Enduring Elixir of Wisdom on the Public Test Realm (PTR). While it has not been added current servers, the item grants players with a 100% XP increase after killing monsters and completing quests. If you’re planning to start characters from scratch, this would certainly come in handy during the tiresome and repetitive grind. However, what is worth noticing is that the possibility of an “in-game store” will only see light in “certain regions.” Since the Blizzard Store has been up and running for awhile now, there is the possibility that NA and EU regions might not receive this digital supermarket.

World of Warcraft players, let us know what you think about this development!
