Support for Pokémon Black & White Ends in October

Support for Pokémon Black & White Ends in October

The sixth generation of the popular animal-sim RPG, Pokémon X and Y, will finally release on October 12th. With the addition of two new games comes big changes to the Pokémon Global Link. Beginning in October, there will be system maintenance for a total of 12 days in preparation for the launch of X and Y. However, this also means the beginning of the end of online support for Generation 5, including Black, White, and their sequels.

Starting on October 12th, the free trial version of Dream World will be discontinued as well as registration for new users. On December 10th, your Pokémon will no longer be able to sleep. There will be a good bit of time between the launch of X and Y before more online features of Gen 5 will be turned off. On January 14th, GTS tracking, WiFi memory link, and others will be deactivated with all that’s being left being certain features in random matchup and a few others. For more info on Pokémon X and Y as we near launch, keep it locked right here.
