Sony to Attempt PS3 Firmware Update 4.45 Again on June 27th

If you was one of the unlucky ones, or you was not aware, a PS3 firmware update 2 days ago apparently started bricking a few PS3 systems, some that had larger harddrives installed, some that were older PS3′s.

Firmware 4.45, which added a feature to turn off trophy notifications in-game was released on Wednesday, but people around the internet started reporting problems, including one in-which the XMB bar would never appear after booting, deeming the PS3 useless. Sony pulled the update just 12 hours after release. Via the PlayStation Forums, Sony has today confirmed that they have found the error in the firmware, and that it would re attempt the update on the 27th of June, prepare your PS3 for another round of installing update 4.45

This isn’t the first time a firmware update has caused problem, firmware 3.50 caused third party controllers to stop working and while less known, 4.20 killed Ad Hoc Party for for the PSP title Dissidia Duodecium 012 Final Fantasy. ┬áSony have promised more updates on the firmware throughout this week before the new version of the firmware launches next week. Be sure to keep an eye on the site for more concerning the update.
