EA Releases List Of Free Games For SimCity Owners To Choose From [UPDATED]

With the server problems that plagued SimCity since its release, EA has had to deal with some unhappy customers. As a way to hopefully get back into consumers’ good graces, EA announced last week that they would be allowing those who purchased SimCity to choose one free title from their library. While the announcement wasn’t too detailed, it was safe to assume that we all thought that EA’s ‘library’ would consist of a large number of their titles.

We were wrong. In an announcement made today, EA showed off the list of titles you can choose from. SimCity owners can choose from eight select titles. Yes, you read that correctly. Out of all the titles that EA has in its library, gamers will only get to choose from the following eight titles:

  • Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Bejeweled 3
  • Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
  • Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
  • Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
  • Plants vs. Zombies
  • SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

Not a bad selection but EA definitely could have offered more or different choices. Also, those who are younger than the minimum age requirement for the online services don’t get to choose. EA will grant them a copy of both Bejeweled 3 and SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition.

Starting today, EA will send out emails to everyone who activated their copy of SimCity with the instructions on how to redeem their free game. Some will likely get theirs before others as EA is staggering the redemption portal opening with plans to have it open for all on March 22. Those who still haven’t picked up SimCity and want one of those free games should make sure to activate the title by March 25 in order to take advantage of this offer.

UPDATE: We are including when the free game portal will be opening below.

  • North America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Wednesday, March 20.
  • Europe by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Thursday, March 21.
  • Asia & South America by 5pm PST/midnight GMT on Friday, March 22.
