Metro: Last Light Release Date Announced

Metro: Last Light Release Date Announced

Deep Silver announced today that they would be releasing the upcoming first person shooter Metro: Last Light in the near future. You might recall that the sequel to exceptional Metro 2033 was to be published by THQ. However when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the publishing rights to the Metro series were auctioned off to Deep Silver. Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media, commented:

“The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary. We won’t leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves.”

Set a year after the events of Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light follows players as they take on the daunting task of not only ensuring their survival but that of all of mankind. Fighting mutants is just the tip of the iceberg as they go against factions who want to take control of whatever hospitable land there is while also hunting a doomsday device that is sure to change the tide of the war in the favor of whoever possesses it.

Metro: Last Light is set to release on May 14, 2013 for North and Latin Americas for the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. European gamers will have to wait until May 17, 2013 when it will be on store shelves.
