Polish developers, CD Projekt RED, have announced that they are preparing the The Witcher for one last ride: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Geralt of Rivia’s adventures took center-stage in 2007 with the release of CD Projekt RED’s first entry to the trilogy in the form of The Witcher. The sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, garnered even greater praise in addition to a cult following during its release on both PC in 2011 and 360 consoles in 2012.

In a community post published on thewitcher.com, CD Projekt RED’s studio head – Adam Badowski – confirms that this ambitious title will conclude the White Wolf’s quest while still being accesible to players visiting Geralt’s world for the first time.

Badowski comments:

“People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is. Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note. The game will be accessible all players–those who are fans of the series and those who just love RPGs–thanks to availability on all major high-end platforms and an introduction designed to smoothly introduce all those who visit the world of the Witcher for the first time.”

No specific release date was given, but the announcement does mention a simultaneous 2014 release on “all high-end platforms.”
