Epic Mickey Studio Junction Point Shut Down

Epic Mickey Studio Junction Point Shut Down

Gamasutra posted the breaking news that confirms the recent rumors: Austin-based studio and developer of the Epic Mickey games for Disney, has been shut down.

The studio’s employees had been put on an “extended vacation” since the sequel shipped, but the confirmation of closure is finally here as Disney consolidates to focus on mobile gaming.

Gamasutra posted a statement from Junction Point:

It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios.  These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.

More disappointing news for those in the industry; let’s hope that those affected by the closure are able to find new jobs soon.

We’ll be sure to update this story as more news is released. At this time, neither JunctionPoint.com nor @JunctionPoint (twitter) have any information on this shutdown.
