Vivid Gamer Podcast: Violence and Video Games, is there an Issue?

We’ve finally gotten back on the mics and recorded our first podcast in a very long time. In this episode Rebecca, Ben, Ryan and I talk about the on-going debate about the affects of violence in video games. We got together yesterday after Obama’s speech where he announced his executive orders to help prevent gun violence. During his speech he mentioned that one of his executive orders is to “Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.” While this does not directly point to video games specifically, Obama himself mentioned video games during his speech. During the podcast we discuss whether or not there can be a link between violence and video games, we talk about whether or not the video game industry needs to portray itself to not be all about violent games, and we talk about the possibilities from a CDC research.
