New Borderlands 2 DLC Leaked Via Patch

New Borderlands 2 DLC Leaked Via Patch

Yesterday, many of us loaded up our Borderlands 2 game to be greeted with a patch that was necessary to unlock Gaige the Mechromancer and fix up a few small issues. What we didn’t expect to find was some details on what appears to be the next DLC for the title.

After you download and install the update, you can check out the trophy list and see that there are new trophies for the “Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate Booty” add-on. Those who thought to look into the PC version’s source files will find even more interesting nuggets of information. As with the DLC released for Borderlands, Captain Scarlett will offer new enemies, bosses, weapon rarity, “Oasis” area, and “Hovercraft” vehicle.

Akin to the Pearlescent weapons from the first title (which sadly didn’t find its way into Borderlands 2), the new rarity is believed to be considered the Seraph and will feature a light pink color to the name. Also, there will be new pirate-themed heads for each character plus the inclusion of a new currency. This currency, Seraph Crystals, is dropped via Seraph Guardians and can be spent only at Seraph Crystal Vendor, much like how you spend Eridium in the main game. The difference, however, is that these crystals won’t go towards the purchases of upgrades but rather top level weapons.

And you can’t have a well-rounded DLC without new bosses to fight. It looks as if we’ll have two to three new raid bosses such as Master Gee the Invincible. Before you get too stoked by this, it also appears that there will be a daily global lock-out for these bosses. What this means is that you will only be able to fight certain bosses once a day. Even if you’re in an online party with teammates who have yet to fight the boss. This isn’t really a bad thing. But it will make it harder to find any rare loot the boss could drop.

While all of this has been posted via other media sites and Gearbox’s own forums, the company has not made any public announcements in regards to this. Due to this, it is a safe bet that some, if not all, information we currently have can be altered between now and when they do make an official announcement. Either way, I’m excited to see what Gearbox has in store for us with all the DLC to be released.
