Xbox Marketplace Update: September 5, 2012

Xbox Marketplace Update: September 5, 2012

Traditionally I open up the marketplace update with some generic spiel on a couple decent deals and additions to the XBLA. As of recent months though there was a severe lack of quality for Microsoft gamers and perhaps due to an overwhelming amount of negative feedback, Microsoft has finally delivered in a big way. Along with a solid Deal of the Week lineup, we’ve got two new arcade additions, some great DLC, and most importantly a massive “Back to School” sale. Read on for one of the best weeks I’ve reported on in quite some time.

Deal of the Week

(Gold Members only)

  • Babel Rising – 800 pts 400 pts – Using the Kinect, play as a God unleashing massive attacks on your enemies.
  • Rayman 3 HD – 800 pts 400 pts – Embark on a fantastic and humorous journey with Rayman and Globox to save the Crossroad of Dreams. Masterfully enhanced with eye-popping High Definition visuals and sounds, Rayman 3 HD is the definitive version of the Rayman classic “Rayman 3 Hoodlum’s Havoc”, and a must-play for all Rayman fans and platform adventure game enthusiasts.
  • Mad Riders – 800 pts 400 pts – Mad Riders is an adrenaline-fueled off-road arcade racing game, that will let you perform amazing aerial stunts and race on over 45 stunning tracks from all over the world, at breathtaking speeds.
  • Alan Wake’s American Nightmare – 1200 pts 600 pts – Follow Alan Wake in the newest installment to the Xbox 360 franchise. Although not as story-oriented as it’s retail predecessor, American Nightmare is a faster paced more action packed spin-off sure to please old fans and newcomers alike. A solid title for $15 is now a steal at a measly $7.50.
  • Limbo – 1200 pts 600 pts – Everyone has heard of this moody black and white adventure that won countless awards a couple years back. If you’ve yet to play it, do so now while it’s at it’s cheaper price and if you somehow have never heard of it, check out Juan’s review here (spoiler alert: It’s pretty freaking good).
  • Sine Mora – 1200 pts 600 pts – This shmup released earlier this year and added a nice time-based mechanic to the genre with a steampunk style. Check out my review on this game and give it a look if you’re into side-scrolling shooters.
