The Last Story’s North American Release Date and Pre-Order Bonus Announced

While the Wii hasn’t seen much in the way of impressive titles this year and the nearing of Nintendo’s newest console quickly approaching, fans of the console do have something to look forward to. The Last Story, the highly-anticipated RPG being brought to us by XSEED Games, now has a release date set. And it’s sooner than you might have expected.

RPG fans will get the chance to experience the tale of Zael and his band of adventurers as they travel to a distant land in hopes of making their future not-so grim. It begins to look like those hopes will come true until things start to go wrong.

The Last Story is developed by the legendary game creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and his studio MISTWALKER. This Wii title puts the focus on the highly interactive story and action-oriented gameplay that features a cover system. Not only is there ranged and close combat, but there is some strategic elements such as the battle command system that lets you order teammates  on-the-fly.

If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy yet, then you might want to do so soon. All initial copies will include a bonus 44-page softcover art book that is packaged in a custom outer box with the game disc. Those who pre-order from Amazon, EB Games Canada, and GameStop will also receive a bonus soundtrack CD that contains seven memorable tracks from the title’s highly-regarded soundtrack composed by famed composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Look for The Last Story to hit North American store shelves on August 14th.
