SWTOR Subscribers Down By 25%

SWTOR Subscribers Down By 25%

It appears that the analysts were right when they said that subscribers were leaving the The Old Republic. This was confirmed in a sales call with EA, the numbers going down approximately 25 percent, from 1.7 million down to 1.3 million.

This announcement seems to run opposite from what Bioware lead writer Daniel Erikson said, that diminishing server populations did not equal a loss of subscribers.

Some other interesting things came out of the conference call, such as EA confirming there will be new Need For Speed and Dead Space titles later this fall. Crysis 3 was also confirmed for the first quarter of 2013. And another interesting fact: EA will be putting $80 million into next generation consoles, namely the Wii U, and the subsequent updated consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
