3 Million New iPads Sold Over Opening Weekend
Apple’s newest tablet has sold like hotcakes, making the launch of the new iPad ” the strongest iPad launch yet.” Apple, since its Friday release, has sold over 3 million new iPads and has proved once again that incremental upgrades on a device can be sold effectively.
Apple, rather than undergo a complete product overhaul with the iPad, improved its display, emphasized faster wireless connectivity, and slightly bumped up the iPad’s processing power and RAM. Many industry analysts speculated that the new device would “fail to surprise consumers” but the sales numbers tell a different story with the new iPad selling three times as many units as the iPad 2 and ten times as many units as the original iPad did on its first day of sale.
