Persona 4: Arena Coming To NA This Summer; Atlus Attempting To Retain Original Cast

Atlus Manager of PR and Sales, Aram Jabbari, announced yesterday that the upcoming fighting title that combines both casts from Persona 3 and Persona 4 will be heading our way on the PS3 this summer. While no exact date is given, we were given a few tidbits of information.

Persona 4: Arena is a collaboration between Atlus and Arc System Works, the company behind the BlazBlue series. Set in the Persona universe, the title will be one of the most unique games set in the fighting genre. It would not be a Persona title if not for the ability to “summon your inner power” in the form of personae.

Set a short time after the events of Persona 4, it seems that the Midnight Channel has been replaced by a new show that features a bizarre fighting tournament with dealt stakes at hand for the participants. There are 10 characters to choose from but this isn’t as small of a number as one would think. When you add in that each character has the power to call forth their own persona that have their own movesets, this really adds to the variety. Also should be noted that it’s the more beloved characters from the series making an appearance in the game; from the steak-loving tomboy Chie Satonaka to the ever-formal Mitsuri Kirijo. Not to mention that everyone’s most loved bear will be present as well. I personally look forward to hearing some of Teddie’s beary funny lines.

As of right now, this information and the fact that there shall be console-exclusive Story and Online modes are all we really have. Atlus plans to remain tight-lipped on most everything else until the title releases this August. Though they do seem to know of two questions that most fans are begging to know the answers to: No word on whether or not the Japanese voice tracks will be included on the North American version and they are doing “everything possible” to bring the original English casts of Persona  and Persona 4 back for the Story mode.
