Atlus Assumes Control of Shin Megami Tensei MMO in North America

Originally released in 2007, Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine is the MMORPG set in the popular series’ universe. Up until now, Aeria Games have had control of the North America servers while Atlus handles the Japanese servers. This April, management for the NA servers will be switching over to the online division of Atlus.

Though the servers and control are shifting from one company to another, Atlus Online has assured players that all characters and player data will be carried over automatically. As to be expected with such a change, there is going to be a short downtime while this change occurs.

The move is being called a “homecoming” for the game, as the brand Shin Megami Tensei is “synonymous” with Atlus. Tsuyoshi Onozuka, director of online games for Atlus Online, comments:

“We’re taking every care to ensure that apart from a very short period of maintenance downtime, that every aspect of existing players’ accounts is preserved.”
