Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land Competition; Win a Piece of Horror History

Red Wasp Design, the developers behind the iOS strategy RPG title Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land, announced that they are holding a competition. The prize is an original copy of a 1936 pulp fiction magazine featuring writing from the man who created the Cthulhu mythos, H. P. Lovecraft.

To be exact, it is an original copy of the March 1936 edition of ‘Astounding Stories’ which features not just the work of H. P. Lovecraft but also the phenomenal cult illustrations of Howard V. Brown whom was commissioned to bring the dark, frightening imaginings of Lovecraft to life. The magazine features a part of the classic Antarctic horror, At The Mountains of Madness.

Are you interested in winning this piece of horror history? To enter for a chance to win, all one must do is submit a review to the App Store or rewrite the text of a pre-existing review for Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land in the style of H. P. Lovecraft. Once submitted to the App Store, you need to email a copy of the review along with your App Store username and the country in which you purchased the title from to: contact@redwaspdesign.com and make sure to include ‘Review Competition’ in the subject. Tomas Rawlings, Red Wasp Design’s designer, comments:

“Lovecraft was famous for his distinctive writing style; long descriptions with lots of adjectives, using obscure words, plenty of indescribable and nameless things crawling through the text. He was an evocative writer, which is part of the reason why he is still so widely read today. We want people to go Lovecraftian-crazy in reviewing the game with gibbous, visceral pleasure and wild Bacchanalian abandon!”

The winner will be chosen on Friday, March 9th. So if you plan to enter, do so by the 8th. The best entries will be posted on the official Red Wasp Design site. Also note: This competition is not open to employees of Red Wasp Design or their families, residents of Innsmouth or Deep One hybrids.
