XSEED Releasing The Last Story in NA

Xenoblade and The Last Story were two well received Wii JRPGs released in Japan that the rest of the world was afraid they’d miss out on. Europe got the news that they’d be receiving Xenoblade, and much later, Nintendo of America revealed they’d be releasing the game in the US exclusively through Gamestop (or Nintendo itself). The Last Story got a PAL release, but still, there was no word whether North American gamers would have the opportunity to enjoy it.

Today, XSEED announced they’ll be bringing The Last Story to the North American market. The partnership with Nintendo grants XSEED exclusive North American publishing rights for the game.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, CEO of MISTWALKER remarked about the deal:

“I am very happy to be able to confirm that The Last Story will be released in North America. XSEED Games has a reputation for bringing high-quality JRPGs to America, and I’m sure they will do a great job with this release too.”

In The Last Story, players follow Zael and his band of fellow adventurers as they go to Lazulis Island, the only region prospering as the mainland of the Empire slowly rots away, in search of work and a better future. Although Zael dreams of abandoning his mercenary ways for the secure life of a knight, things don’t exactly go as planned when events during their first mission change his life forever.

The game will arrive on Wii this Summer, and with the Wii U hitting in time for the 2012 holiday season, The Last Story may be an aptly titled last hurrah for Nintendo’s little white box.
