How to Download PSP Games to Vita

News broke earlier this week that Japan’s UMD Passport program would not be coming to the States. That’s sad news for gamers wanting to play their old UMD games on the PlayStation Vita, but they will still be able to download and play games purchased digitally from the PlayStation Store. This semi-backwards-compatibility comes at no cost, and 275 PSP titles are currently compatible. Jeff Rubenstein of the official PlayStation Blog claims that more will be coming soon. According to Jeff, there are two ways you can get at your games:

  • Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.
  • If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.

Head over to the official PlayStation Blog for the full list of compatible games. Do you plan on transferring any of your favorites to Vita? Let us know in the comments below.
