Former True Crime Game Coming Out as Sleeping Dogs

Remember that game called True Crime: Hong Kong? Remember when Activision canceled the project? Apparently Square Enix quietly acquired the game last August. And it’s set to come out in the second half of 2012. The game, now named Sleeping Dogs, will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and a Windows PC near you.

After the last game, True Crime: New York failed to meet sales expectations, Activision outright canceled the next game. And that was where Square Enix came in to pick up the pieces. They picked up the rights to the project, but not the name, hence the name change. Let’s hope there is a good game underneath all that dead weight. If there is, Square Enix may be on the right track to see good graces. It has become increasingly reliant on its Western portfolio as of late.
