Sigma Plus Launching With Vita
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus will launch with the Vita on February 22. It was previously announced as a “launch window” title.
Team Ninja, the developers behind Ninja Gaiden have reinvented this game once before, on the PlayStation 3 in 2007, after its initial launch on the Xbox in 2004. Jeff Rubenstein, Senior Social Media Manager, posted the news on the PlayStation.Blog Monday.
Rubenstein sat down with the game over the weekend and claims that the latest iteration of Ninja Gaiden performed nicely, stating “While it doesn’t approach an Uncharted Golden Abyss level visually, it’s better looking on Vita’s OLED than an 8 year old game ought to look.” Also mentioned in the post were the control tweaks the game had to undergo during its transition to the portable, with Rubenstein saying, “Tecmo’s Team Ninja has added a number of features to take advantage of the new Vita hardware, such as six axis arrow shooting and touchscreen prompts to enhance your Ninpo magic attacks. I had trouble adjusting to the new controls in first-person view, but fortunately, they’re optional.”
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus features the new “Ninja Challenge” mode, a 76 mission experience that involves killing hordes of enemies, taking on a boss or weapon specific objectives. Team Ninja created this new mode as a way to game-on-the-go since each of these missions takes only a few minutes to complete.
Also included are those all-important trophies, something Sigma on the PlayStation 3 did not have.
