Kid Icarus to be ‘Lefty-Friendly’

Kid Icarus to be ‘Lefty-Friendly’

Left-handed individuals can sleep peacefully tonight knowing that Nintendo and Mashiro Sakurai, director of the upcoming 3DS Kid Icarus title that is slated for release in Q1 2012, have not forgotten them.

In a statement made to Official Nintendo Magazine, Sakurai mentions that the game will support the Circle Pad Pro in a manner that will cater to the needs of left-handed gamers. He went on to say that he did not know the specifics of the circle pad pro until the device was announced and did not have the time to implement the new control scheme in any other way. Kid Icarus: Uprising will use the touchscreen for aiming and moving the camera and the circle pad for movement, with the Circle Pad Pro allowing a left-handed player to use their right hand on the circle pad instead of their dominant hand.

The Circle Pad Pro will be sold separately for $19.99.

Do you think it’s a smart idea for Nintendo to use the Circle Pad Pro in this manner or would you have liked for them to hold off on using it?
