The Next Sony President is Kaz Hirai

With new products on the way and a new year blooming, it seems fitting that a slight change in Sony leadership will soon be occurring. First revealed today by Nikkei magazine, Kazuo Hirai will step up to replace Howard Stringer as Sony Corporation President when the change is finalized in February. Hirai’s current position as Representative Chief Executive Officer and Executive Deputy President does little to convey Hirai’s importance to the PlayStation brand. In E3′s of years past, Hirai has accompanied nearly every major PlayStation announcement. His marketing techniques played a large part in the ubiquity of the PlayStation brand in the late 90′s and early 2000′s. In 2006, Hirai replaced the “Father of PlayStation” Ken Kutaragi as President of Sony Computer Entertainment. He was most recently spotted at the PlayStation Vita’s launch in Japan late last year.
