Time To Go Back To Karkand

Time To Go Back To Karkand

The wait is almost over for those counting the days until they can one again step foot on some of the most classic Battlefield levels ever.  While Xbox 360 and PC will be able to enjoy the DLC, PlayStation 3 users will be receiving it one week early on December 6, 2011.

The incoming DLC will provide gamers with four maps from Battlefield 2 completely redone using the Frostbite 2 engine.  Those experienced Battlefield veterans will be able to relive Wake Island, Sharqi Peninsula, Gulf of Oman and of course, Strike at Karkand.  Tommy Rydling, Jr. Product Manager at DICE, stated on the official PlayStation Blog “The design idea for Back to Karkand is that these legendary maps have aged since you last saw them. If you are a returning veteran, you will feel instantly at home, but there will also be a sense of exciting rediscovery about them. If you have not played on the before, they are simply a great addition to the nine available multiplayer maps in Battlefield 3, building on all the strengths of the series.”

The DLC will also give players five new trophies to try and acquire, list courtesy of the PlayStation Blog.

  1. Complete Warrior (Silver)
Get a kill with the following weapons in a single life: Rifle, Jet, Tank
  2. Third Tour (Bronze)
Get a kill with the new APC, Desert Buggy, and STOVL fighter jet
  3. Gunslinger (Bronze)Get 10 kills with all B2K weapons
  4. Like a Boss! (Silver)
Get a kill with the skid loader
  5. Jaws (Bronze)
Take a swim in the pool at the Oman hotel

For Battlefield 3 fans, this is a time to rejoice.  Did I mention that you if you get the new DLC, you get 10 shiny new weapons that can also be used in the regular game?  As Vivid Gamer’s resident Battlefield fanatic, I cannot wait.
