Community Voice: What Are You Thankful For?
Thanksgiving is finally here, and that means food, football, and family. It’s also a time for us to sit down and reflect on what we are grateful for in our lives. Of course, for most people things like health and security are at the top of their lists, but we here at Vivid Gamer are curious as to what your thankful for in regards to gaming.
Personally, I’m thankful I finally have a good gaming computer and have had the opportunity to be exposed to so many great games on every platform from console to PC to handheld to iOS. I only wish I had more time to spend on these great titles, as 2011 was a particularly great year for video games, with stellar titles releasing nearly every month for every platform, regardless of how you like to game. I’m particularly grateful that I have been able to have some great experiences on my DS, even if that handheld is near retirement, and on my iPhone/iPad, which takes gaming to a whole new level. So far I definitely think my favorite games of the year have been Pokemon Black/White, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, and Tiny Tower.
As you gather around this year, what great games are you grateful for? What things happened this year that make you grateful to be a gamer? Let us know in the comments.
What is Community Voice? Community Voice is your weekly chance to make yourself heard on Vivid Gamer. Each week our Community Voice topic is meant to encourage discussion, not only with the staff, but with the community as well. We want to hear from readers of the site, so let us know your opinions on the topics every week, and let’s get something lively going!

This year, I was thankful for the following:
1. The announcement of Sly 4: Thieves in Time
2. The reveal of the PlayStation Vita
3. The epic conclusion to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise
4. The long-awaited release of the fifth Elder Scrolls installment
5. The announcement of the Jak and Daxter HD Collection
6. Fantastic holiday deals on games and hardware
7. All the gaming friends I’ve met and played with
8. Joining Vivid Gamer
9. A deluge of PSN titles for which I can’t wait to have the time to play (BG&E HD, Outland, Dead Nation, etc.)
10. Portal 2
11. A competitive marketplace with something for everyone.
12. Twitter, which has become my space for all things gaming
I could go on, but it would start to get very detailed – clearly, 2011 rocked no matter who you are.
I’m thankful for family who loves me enough to go out with me on Black Friday and wait in line for me to get one of the limited edition Zelda 3DS bundles. :)
