Skyrim Ships 7 Million Units

Skyrim Ships 7 Million Units

It has been a blockbuster week for Bethesda Game Studios and its Elder Scrolls franchise.  Bethesda took the time today to announce that its latest title, Skyrim,  shipped over 7 million units in its opening week.  According to the developer, over half of the titles ready for day one sales were sold within the first 48 hours of the game’s launch. The numbers include the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

In the title’s first 24-hours on the market, over 280,000 people were playing Skyrim on the PC.
“Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides,” said Robert Altman, CEO of ZeniMax Media.

Skyrim has been praised from the very first reviews and it does not appear that anything will be changing.  Kyle is currently slaving over the game in his attempt to provide Vivid Gamer’s score for the game and his initial impressions can be found here.
