Major Nelson Confirms New Alan Wake Title

Major Nelson Confirms New Alan Wake Title

A new Alan Wake title has been confirmed by a recent tweet from Larry Hryb (Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson).  The tweet said:

“We can confirm that this new “Alan Wake” game will be a fully standalone experience and released on Xbox LIVE.”

There were rumors that the new Alan Wake title was not going to be a retail release, but actually a downloadable title called Alan Wake: Night Springs.  Remedy has already confirmed that they’re working on a new Alan Wake game, but that it is not going to be Alan Wake 2.  Major Nelson followed up the above tweet saying that more will be revealed at the Spike Video Game Awards debuting on December 10.

The original Alan Wake was a game stuck in developmental hell for nearly five years, constantly scrapping and changing ideas.  The game finally went gold on April 7, 2010 and was met with favorable scoresAlan Wake didn’t sell up to the developers hopes, but sold enough to warrant keeping the franchise alive.

Remedy previously stated that a “Fall 2011″ release was likely, but obviously it’s a little too late for that.  We’ll keep you updated when further details emerge.
