Nintendo to Post $1.3B Loss

Nintendo to Post $1.3B Loss

It doesn’t take a financial analyst to tell you 2011 hasn’t been a great year for Nintendo. Today, it was revealed that Nintendo plans on posting a ¥100 billion ($1.32 billion) pre-tax loss for the year.

Part of the reason for the large loss (double the original estimate of ¥55B) is the result of the strong yen, with ¥40 billion ($526.16 million) of the total loss accounting for the exchange rate between the yen and the euro.

¥74.5 billion ($979.97 million) of the losses were from the last quarter alone, according to the reports.

Of course, we still have the holiday season ahead of us, so things might brighten up a bit for the company, but obviously, Nintendo has to do something other than what they’ve been doing if they want to see the tide turn.
