Mass Effect 3 Demo Coming in January with Early Access to BF3 Owners

While the holiday season is jam-packed with games this year, some notable titles are definitely aching for your attention in early 2012. Among those is Mass Effect 3, the third and final installment in BioWare’s hugely successful trilogy starring Commander Shepard. With the recent announcement of cooperative multiplayer, fans have been itching to find out what BioWare has cooked up to complement its conclusion to Shepard’s saga. They won’t have to wait much longer – Bioware has announced via Twitter that a single and multiplayer demo will be released in January 2012.

Furthermore, a post on the official Bioware forums confirms that gamers who buy a new copy of Battlefield 3 (or at least an Online Pass) will receive early access to the demo’s multiplayer component when it launches. BioWare’s Jessica Merizan had this to say on the demo:

Hello everyone! It’s going to be a Happy New Year! Mass Effect 3 will have a pre-release demo in January 2012. This demo will have both single player and multiplayer sections, giving fans a taste of what’s to come on March 6, 2012. Be first to the front lines in the multiplayer section of the Mass Effect 3 demo! Redemption of the Online Pass for Battlefield 3 will unlock this early access. But rallying for war is just getting started – in late November / early December, BioWare will announce other ways for fans to engage the enemy with their friends online from day one!

Merizan detailed that owners of Battlefield 3 on any platform will gain access by activating their Online Pass, and Battlefield 3 Origin Customers are automatically included. This deal will apply to all regions where the demo will be released, and “no purchase necessary” option for getting early access will be announced in late November or early December. The exact date of the demo’s release has yet to be announced.
