Trophy Guide: Castlevania Harmony of Despair

Trophy Guide: Castlevania Harmony of Despair

Classic games are usually fun to play, mostly because they show you how you’ve progressed through the years. While Castlevania Harmony of Despair isn’t a classic, it is designed to be like one. This co-op adventure adds a lot of classic thrills and simple trophies.

Most of these trophies get easier with time. As you progress, your stats get better. This makes the requirements far lower, but at the same time more obtainable. The only truly hard trophy is Hunter Legend. Beyond that, you can pretty much just have a good time!

Trophy Guide:

Bring a comrade back from the dead.

When you play in co-op, things become quite different. Enemies have more power, chests do different things, and you can die. Upon death, you become a skeleton, which does minimal (at best) damage. However, throughout the level there will be blue chests. Offline they give items, but in co- op they give “Water of Life” (100%). This item only works for that stage and you can only hold one. This item allows you to revive one ally. To revive someone, simply walk up to them and push the prompt.

Slick Kick

Defeat a boss using sliding.

Any boss but the first is basically suicide. You should do extremely low damage (like 1 – 5) and take serious damage. This can be done at any point, but I would over-power yourself. To do this, you must do critical damage to the boss. Roughly 250 (Stage 1, Normal) should be more than enough. When you hit this point, slide kick (down + X). Keep some potions on you in case you misgauged the enemy. Ideally shortly into kicking the boss will die.

Bone Cold Justice

Defeat an enemy by hitting back a skeleton bone.

On normal this is an instant kill on skeletons. At the end of stage one you should see a row of four. They will attack you and you can reflect them back by just hitting the bone. Rinse and Repeat till one connects.

Grim Synergy

Defeat a boss using a Dual Crush.

Make sure you have a partner, or you are simply wasting time. Go in with no more than two people and constantly spam the boss with this skill. Depending on your power, this will work really well or quite poorly. Rinse and repeat till they die. Like other trophies, the first boss is the easiest to kill.

Poetic Justice

Defeat an ally who has been seduced by an enemy.

From what I understand, only three enemies can do this. The succubus, Dracula, and the stage-seven boss. The easiest one to perform this on is the stage-seven boss. She naturally seduces men only. Unlike the other two, she ias quite fond of this skill on normal. Wait till you see hearts flying. This is your cue to jump into it if you’re a man. Have your friend quickly kill you for the trophy. This must be done with two or more people!

Vampire Justice

Defeat the lord of Castlevania

Kill Dracula on stage six. For more assistance see “Hunted Legend.

Jump kick 30 times in a row without touching the ground.

After you double jump, some characters can do an additional kick. Some enemies like the skull towers/boss are extremely easy to spam without effort. Transversely, you can also endlessly jump on your partner’s head.

Defeat a boss with 5 players in skeleton form.

This requires six people online and some solid teamwork. You should all die prior to the boss and have an over-powered person fight them. This might take a few tries, but will work. This will ding if you’re living or dead.

Pack Rat

Collect a large number of items.

Every item you collect goes into a book. Once you get around 300 items, the trophy will pop. If you have two or more controllers, there is a quick method. Start up a local game with as many characters as possible. Select a stage where you know the treasure locations. Grab all the good ones you can (Purple = best outside of boss) and open them with one person. This will give you to to four items per chest. Rinse and repeat till you get 300+. NOTE: some characters get unique items, so keep that in mind.

Wicked Deep Pockets

Amass 1,000,000 gold.

Do the method described in “Pack Rate.” When you finish, just sell your items for extreme profit. MAKE SURE no item hits more than 9x. Once you hit 9x, you can’t hold anymore.

Rack up 10,000 enemy kills.

I got around 3,000 for two complete cycles. Just keep playing and sooner or later it will ding.

Hunter Legend

Complete Hard Mode.

I did this full mode with one friend and it was MORE than doable. (Note: we used teamwork.) To get this trophy you will need to memorize boss patterns. Most are fairly simple, but some can cause serious problems. The only two problems we had were on the Puppet Master and Dracula.

Puppet Master:

This guy is a JOKE with this method. Alucard has a multiple sword-slash skill and the puppet-grab skill breaks based off the number of attacks. Have one person focus on stopping the puppets and the other damaging him. If done correctly, he should die quickly.

This fight will be a pain in the ass, or form three is, at least. Basically, most of his skills nearly/instantly kill you. To avoid this grim fate, you will need some planning. First thing you want to do is memorize his attack patterns. Due to the nature, it would be hard to explain. However, try to remain on opposite sides. This will force him to focus on one of you or split his attacks. Either or you win. Once you have this down, wait for him to attack. During his attack phase he can take any/all damage. THIS IS YOUR TIME TO STRIKE. Rinse and repeat till he dies.
