PSN Pass Confirmed

PSN Pass Confirmed

Rumors have been circulating around an image featuring a Resistance 3 bundle that was first posted on the German website Konsolentreff.  The image had a new logo on the box and was labeled “PSN Pass.”  After a lot of speculation from gaming websites, Sony Computer Entertainment America has responded to the rumors.

In a statement released this morning, the company said:

“We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities.  This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title. This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.”

Gamers should be use to this system, as it operates almost exactly like EA’s own online pass.  Sony gave no details regarding the price with which buyers of used games can expect to pay for their online pass.
