Sony: Welcome Back Promotion Extended

Sony: Welcome Back Promotion Extended

As you should remember, Sony was hacked and personal information was lost. To make up for the problem Sony offered up a Welcome Back Package that gave gamers a chance to download a few games for free. The most important was a free month of PSN Plus, their premium download service offering you free games, content, and other things for around five bucks a month. Despite the fact that Sony had said the Welcome Back Program would run “through” June 3rd, many gamers woke up Sunday to discover the promotion had already ended. But it looks like Sony is giving those procrastinators another chance by extending the program until 9am PST on July 5 .

Since the Welcome Back program started, there were many that felt annoyed they were not profiting. Many “devoted” gamers had the feeling that the not-so-devoted came out far ahead. This is an understandable feeling, but the¬†extension¬†has perhaps one unforeseen issue. For the vast majority of gamers that redeemed plus on day one, you may be surprised to learn that you will be able to re-download plus. This will effectively give you another free month of plus and extend any content you got from the program another month.

How do you feel about this change? Do you think its okay that day-one consumers of Welcome Back promos can get another month of plus? Tell us what you think below.
