Crysis 2 Patch 1.9 Brings DirectX11 and High Res Update

Recently, EA released Patch 1.9 for Crysis 2. This patch introduced DirectX11 compatibility and higher resolution textures. If Crysis 2 didn’t look amazing enough on high-end gaming PCs, now it can look even better.

According to the Patch 1.9 FAQ, the patch introduces water rendering improvements, high-quality motion blur, realistic shadows, and other texture and art updates. To use these new features it is recommended you have a DX11 compatible video card with 1.5GB video memory, 64-bit operating system, fast HDD or SDD, a quad-core processor, and at least 8GB of RAM. Follow the FAQ for any troubleshooting tips if you encounter issues with Patch 1.9.

Unfortunately, after viewing various videos of DX9 versus DX11 in Crysis 2, the difference is marginal; hardly noticeable. My advice if you are considering any PC upgrades just so you can take advantage of these changes to the game is that it may not be worth it.
