Journey Invite-Only Beta Starts June 28; Check Your PSN Inbox

thatgamecompany couldn’t be happier with how this year’s E3 went. They received numerous nominations and awards for their upcoming adventure game Journey. Starting tomorrow June 28 a select few will get a chance to experience this highly anticipated PSN title when a invite-only beta for Journey’s online multiplayer opens up.

The unique online multiplayer is designed to change the way people think about online gaming. During your adventure to a mysterious mountain in the distance players will cross paths with other travelers. You can join and play with up to one other player at a time. The developer equates it to a hiking experience where you might be hiking alone and might encounter another hiker you’ve never met before to join you on your hike.

The online multilayer will have no lobbies, no matchmaking, no PSN IDs, and no chat; all aspects we expect to see in an online mode. Players will be limited to the way of communications of the characters in the game. This is all very interesting and exciting.

To get into the invite only beta and experience this unique multiplayer mode, thatgamecompany will be contacting early adopters of Flower who are also a PS Plus subscriber.  If you think you qualify for that than you will get a invitation via a PSN Message.  They will also be giving away some codes through their Facebook page, on the PlayStation Blog along with a few other media outlets. The beta will start tomorrow June 28 and end on July 12, feedback sessions will also take place every Tuesday from 6pmto 10 pm PST.
