E3 2011: Wii U Third Party Trailer Footage Taken from PS3, 360 and PC

E3 2011: Wii U Third Party Trailer Footage Taken from PS3, 360 and PC

As we all saw yesterday Nintendo official announced their next console Wii U. During the reveal Nintendo had a sizzle trailer showing off the consoles 1080p HD graphical capabilities. Well apparently the games shown during the trailer were in fact footage of those games being played on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. During an interview with GameTrailers, Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America admitted the footage wasn’t from the Wii U.

Can’t say that I’m too shocked seeing as the Wii U games on display at E3 are only prototype titles but it is nice to see Reggie being so honest with us.

“Absolutely, because we’re talking a year away from when the Wii U system is going to launch,” said Reggie in the interview. He goes to say “In terms of how good it looks, it’s going to be driven by what the individual developers do. The system’s going to be 1080p. It’s going to be high-definition.” He did kind of skirt around the question of whether or not the Wii U can match or surpass the graphics of the PS3 and 360.

While we won’t see the next Wii console till next year I’m not so sure we will be seeing graphics on par with the PS3 and 360, but I’m sure we will be seeing some actual footage early next year as developers continue to work on Wii U titles in preparation for the 2012 release.
