Atlus to Publish King of Fighters XIII

Atlus announced yesterday that they have secured the North American publishing rights to the latest title in the legendary fighter franchise, King of Fighters. The latest entry in the popular series, King of Fighters XIII, will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

With the return of favorite characters such as Mai, K’, and Vice, King of Fighters XIII will represent extensive refining with the feedback from the community on the core fighting engine and improved network functionality in brilliant HD. A lot of effort has been put into the game to address the concerns of the previous title. From faster fights to the addition of over half a dozen modes to increase replayability, SNK PLAYMORE isn’t stopping there. The animated character sprites are beautifully rendered and easier to distinguish from the richer and more detailed backgrounds. Camera perspective is also less restricted and there are more moves for the fighters, including new supers and all-new NEOMAX supers.

Ryo Mizufune, President of SNK PLAYMORE, stated:

“We are excited to work with ATLUS to bring THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII to North America. Fans have waited patiently for an HD iteration in the series that could live up to the proud tradition of classics like KOF ’98.  We view KOF XIII as an opportunity to deliver a high definition KOF game that meets and exceeds fan expectations.  We have worked very hard to listen to all of their concerns and suggestions, to incorporate all of their feedback and ideas, and we hope that XIII becomes one of their favorite games in the series.”

Expect to see the latest entry, King of Fighters XIII, in stores and on your home consoles during the 2011 Holiday season. For more information, visit the official website.
