It’s Official- Persona 2: Innocent Sin to Be Released in North America
Last Friday, we mentioned how Atlus had seemed to be teasing fans of their popular Persona series with an outdated newsletter. Today, fans who always wanted to experience the first title in the two part Persona 2 will be given the chance to come fall. That is right. The only Persona game to not see a North American release is being ported to the PSP and will arrive stateside later this year.
For those who haven’t picked up any of the recent Persona games (I highly recommend that you do!), Innocent Sin was the one that focused greatly on its characters and story over surviving hellish dungeons. You still had demon negotiations and the ability to build up your party, which are staples in the Shin Megami Tensei series that Persona draws its ties to. One aspect of Persona 2: Innocent Sin that is only shared with the sequel, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, is how rumors become reality.
This won’t be a simple port of the 1999 Japanese game that made Persona a household name for Atlus fans. Posted on the PlayStation Blog, Aram Jabbari has commented on some of the new improvements and additions. They are not limited to just the following.
- 16:9 Aspect Ratio
- Remastered Visuals and Audio
- Remixed Musical Score (with option to toggle between that and original)
- Streamlined User Interface
- New Quests
- New Intro Animation
- And more!
Atlus faithful can rejoice as this shows that the company had been listening to our pleas and requests. It might have taken over ten years for North Americans to get their hands on this lost chapter in the series but the wait is nearly over. It is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
