FUNimation Entertainment and Good Game Productions Announce Fullmetal Battle

Today, FUNimation Entertainment and Good Games Productions announced a brand new iOS and browser-based game based off of the highly popular anime series, “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.” The turn-based RPG fighting game, Fullmetal Battle, is set for a release on the Android, iOS, and Facebook this summer. FUNimation president and CEO Gen Fukunaga remarked:

“FUNimation and Good Game Productions teamed up to bring fans the opportunity to battle in the rich Fullmetal Alchemist universe. As both fans and longtime followers of the show, we hope to appeal to our loyal fans and to expose new fans to this show which continues to resonate with so many people.”

The title is a fast-paced, turn-based RPG sure to capture longtime fans and entice newcomers to the series. Players get to design their very own state licensed alchemists and choose from a vast library of abilities inspired by the anime series. Not only can players use those abilities against friends and other online players but you can go toe-to-toe against Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood favorites such as Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, and Roy Mustang. The group RPG will allow players to band together in 3 vs. 3 battles. Leveling is done independently through skills and attributes. Unique access to special potions and one-time usage items give players the opportunity to  upgrade their core Alchemy transmutation circles central to Fullmetal Battle.

Grantley Day, Founder and CEO of Good Game Productions, states:

“We are huge fans of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, so to have this opportunity to work on the game is extremely exciting. Fans of trading card and turn-based RPG’s will love the fast pace, the extensive customization and the rich storyline of Fullmetal Battle.”

As a longtime fan of the series, I eagerly await to see how well Good Game Production does with Fullmetal Battle. From the screenshots and trailer I’ve seen, it looks to be a safe bet that Mr. Day’s words are true.
