25th Anniversary Dragon Quest Collection Announced

25th Anniversary Dragon Quest Collection Announced

Following in Nintendo’s footsteps, Square Enix has revealed plans for a 25th Anniversary Dragon Quest collection for Wii.  The collection, which so far has only been announced for Japan, will include the Famicom (NES) games Dragon Quest I, II, and III, plus the Super Famicom (SNES) games Dragon Quest 1 & 2 and Dragon Quest III.  Like the Super Mario Brothers Anniversary Collection, this collection will not include any updates, but simply emulate the original games, with the bonus that you can play them all from one Wii disc.

The collection is set for a September release in Japan.  I personally would love to see this come to the US, but I won’t hold my breath.  Like Nintendo’s anniversary collection, it would have been nice if Square Enix had provided updates to the classic titles, or included some of the other games in the series, but it’s still a nice opportunity for fans.
