Rumor: “Wii Select” Budget Titles Coming Soon

Rumor: “Wii Select” Budget Titles Coming Soon

PS3 has its “Greatest Hits” and 360 has its “Platinum Collections,” but until now, Nintendo has held firm on the pricing of its first-party Wii games.  Although the price officially dropped $10 for Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party recently, the rumor mill has been spinning, suggesting that soon the company will offer a line of “Wii Select” titles for only $19.99 each.  This budget line of games is purported to come this month along with a new Wii console bundle that will include Mario Kart Wii (instead of the current Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort) for only $150, most likely in preparation for the E3 reveal of Nintendo’s next home console.

Although this line of budget titles is still unconfirmed, the list of games dropping to $20 supposedly includes Mario Super Sluggers, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  Still, considering Nintendo previously offered “Players’ Choice” games at a discount in previous generations, and with Wii sales slacking, this definitely makes sense.

These price drops are supposed to take effect as soon as May 15, so Vivid Gamer will be sure to keep you informed if Nintendo makes any official annoucements.
