EA Acquires Firemint

EA Acquires Firemint

EA has gobbled up another mobile-game developer.  This time it is Australian-based Firemint, a privately held mobile development studio in Melbourne.   The 60-person studio is responsible for such mobile games as the famous Flight Control (which has recently been ported to more traditional gaming devices such as DS) and Real Racing.  Details of the acquisition were not revealed.

While not quite as huge an acquisition as the $20 million deal that snagged them Angry Birds‘ publisher Chillingo, it still shows that EA takes the mobile and iOS market very seriously.
