Gameloft Opening NOLA Studio?

Gameloft Opening NOLA Studio?

According to a New Orleans job board, Gameloft is searching for thirteen individuals to fill various positions, suggesting that the company may be opening a studio based out of the Big Easy.  Positions include artists, producers, programmers, and game designers, all of them full-time posts.

A representative of Gameloft wouldn’t confirm that they were opening a studio in New Orleans, but did comment:

“Gameloft is currently recruiting in New Orleans for a variety of game development positions. We’ll have more information about our exciting endeavors in New Orleans soon.”

While another NOLA job site suggested other companies are looking into the city as a possible new area for growth, possibly due to various state tax incentives (not to mention the great food).  If this news is true, it is great news for the city and for Southern artists and programmers hoping to snag a job nearby, not to mention the fact that New Orleans can use all the jobs it can get.  As someone who lived there for ten years, survived Katrina, and who still has friends and family there, I’m very happy to hear that the game industry is expanding in the city.  Hopefully we can have more confirmation of this studio rumor soon.
