25 Things About Me: Hawke from Dragon Age II

25 Things About Me: Hawke from Dragon Age II

Facebook is a very popular place to spend your free time, and is also a great place to learn things about people that you never knew. One such survey passed around is the 25 Things About Me. We at Vivid Gamer have decided to ask Hawke from Dragon Age II if he would be kind enough to give us twenty-five different tidbits of information about himself. It wasn’t easy tracking him down. Some villagers claimed that Hawke was really a woman. But we finally found him and this is what he told us.

  1. I’m the eldest son in my family. My younger siblings are twins. Bethany is a mage and Carver is a warrior.
  2. Everyone calls me Hawke, but that’s not my given name. In fact, it’s Garrett. My mother claims that if I had been a girl, I would have been called Marian. Good thing my father got the boy he wanted.
  3. The rumors flying around here are that I’m somehow related to the hero of Fereldan. Humorous, I say. Don’t you agree?
  4. I’ve heard about the tales of some cartels  that go by the names of EA and Bioware. I’d chose a side if I knew what the hell a SecuROM was. If it’s anything like the darkspawn, then it needs to be eliminated at once.
  5. Before I became the “Champion of Kirkwall”, I was just an average victim of the Blight. My family and I ran from Lothering into the Free Marshs.
  6. Depending on how my mood strikes me, I can be really nice, rather snarky, or downright mean. My friends swear it’s like I’m more than one person.
  7. If only my friends could change their clothes faster than it takes to defeat a powerful foe, we could get our work done in half the time. I guess I can’t blame them for being slightly picky in what they wear.
  8. Being the Champion of Kirkwall has its perks, including women, fame, and free Wi-Fi.
  9. The downside to that is not just the women make advances, Wi-Fi reception is horrible out here with all the stone, and everyone seems to expect me to drop what I am doing to help them. I’ve tried altering my looks with the Mirror of Transformation at the Black Emporium, but Xenon must be laughing, because everyone seems to recognize me anyway.
  10. In my free time (which is rare) I enjoy the rousing activity of hunting ogres as a way to get revenge for the one that killed my sibling. I use their hides to craft armor for the young children I come across when I go traveling. It gives me an intense feeling of gratification.
  11. Speaking of traveling, I should work on a traveler’s guide of Kirkwall, complete with detailed map of the town and surrounding area with special attention to the caves.  But, honestly, do you think you’ll even need it after the first year?
  12. My favorite music is the sound of nature wafting through the air as my weapon destroys the next unsuspecting victim.
  13. For the longest time, I was rather poor. And those who say money isn’t everything mustn’t know what it’s like not knowing where their next meal will come from. Or having to share a bed with Gamlen. Not a pleasant experience.
  14. I did once try to sing for my supper as a bard. It didn’t go as planned. The rats scurrying nearby were beginning to look tasty.
  15. I normally let my Mbari sleep with me, although he snores terribly.  Either way, he’s a better bedmate than Gamlen.
  16. Out of all the females I have had the pleasure to meet, I must say that a certain Witch of the Wild left a good impression on me. Shame that I didn’t get to meet her daughter. But I heard the Hero of Fereldan was luckier in that department.
  17. Of course, it wasn’t just the conversations with Flemeth that made me enjoy her company. She has a really strong presence about her, and being able to turn into a dragon at will is just amazing. I’d give up being Champion to be able to do that.
  18. My favorite haunt is The Blooming Rose. One of Kirkwall’s famous brothels, it is also a good place to kick back and relax. Just make sure you know what you’re getting when you go there. Otherwise, that snickering you hear is going to be from me. Word of advice: in case “what happens in the Red Lantern District doesn’t stay in the Red Lantern District,” you can always visit Anders in his clinic.
  19. Speaking of Anders, that blue glowy thing he does is kind of freaky, and the fact that Justice won’t let him get drunk anymore means guys’ night out at the pub isn’t as fun as it could be. At least we have a designated driver.
  20. I never thought that the wife of a Templar would make for such a good friend and trustworthy battle companion. Even if Aveline and I don’t always see eye-to-eye, I know she has my back and I have hers.
  21. Varric’s connections come in handy; I’m not sure how I feel about his stories. Is it a good or bad thing that half of Kirkwall thinks I single-handledly slew a dragon with one hand tied behind my back?
  22. Things are always entertaining when Merrill and Fenric both join me on an outing, seeing as their view of mages’ powers are at extreme opposites. Merrill can be either incredibly annoying or hilarious, depending on my mood, and Fenric needs one of those t-shirts that show his every mood as brooding. At least that’s what Verric says.
  23. Even with everything that Sebastian has been through, he doesn’t stray off the path of goodness. Sometimes I have to wonder if it is really healthy for him to always be good and pure.
  24. Isabela.  What do I say about her?  Well, for one thing, never enter a drinking contest with her, because you’re sure to lose.  Also, be careful about trusting her: she is a pirate, after all.
  25. I tried to take up painting once, but apparently there just isn’t a market for decapitated darkspawn.  I wonder if the Hero of Ferelden would buy any of my work?
